Caring for the under eye

The skin around your eyes is thin, delicate and sensitive. You need to take extra care of it, as it is highly susceptible to bags, dark circles, wrinkles, and fine lines. This area needs extra care, and we tell you how.

Be gentle

The under eye skin is about 6-10 times thinner than other parts of your face, so you need to be careful about the kind of pressure you put, and how you scrub. Avoid rough washing, rubbing and pulling the skin around your eyes, because it can have a negative impact on the structure of your skin.

Reconsider waxing

Eyebrow waxing can damage the top layer of the skin around your eyes. It is better to tweeze your eyebrows, but you can continue waxing if your aesthetician is very gentle.

Use a separate product

Since the skin around the eyes is different, it needs a separate set of products. You shouldn’t use facial care products on your eye area – even your facial wash can be too harsh for this gentle area, because it may contain abrasive particles. An eye make-up remover is specially formulated for cleansing this gentle area, so make sure you get the right product for yourself.

Wear sunscreen

Eye creams help prevent premature aging and sun damage, and also make your skin smooth and soft.

Massage

Lightly massaging the area under the eyes can help you reduce dark circles, puffiness, and frown lines. While you may think this step is not helpful, it can really do wonders for the appearance of your skin.

Masks and pads

Eye masks and pads are great to refresh and brighten your skin. Pamper yourself with masks that soothe and hydrate the neglected area.
