What can you do about fine lines and wrinkles?

Unfortunately there's no way to prevent the skin from aging, but by taking the right steps you can help your skin stay healthy-looking and maintain its youthful appearance for years to come.

•   Protect your skin from UV rays. Research shows that most wrinkles are actually caused by sun damage. Dermatologists recommend that you use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 15 to protect your skin from harmful UVA and UVB rays.

•    Vitamin E (tocopherol) has been found to help protect the skin against the signs of UVB damage. Good sources of Vitamin E are nuts, seeds, and leafy vegetables.

•    Products containing retinol, a form of vitamin A, can also help reduce the visual effects of decreased collagen in the skin. Good sources of retinol can be found in animal products, such as milk, shrimp, eggs, cheese, and Tuna.

•    Minerals such as copper and zinc have been shown to improve the appearance of skin affected by decreases in elastin and collagen production, particularly in the area around the eye. The best sources of copper are seeds, cashews, soybeans, spinach, lentils, and kidney beans. Zinc on the other hand is highly concentrated in animal foods like beef, lamp, and turkey.
