Summer means sun, shorts, sandals, and sun-kissed skin. But with all these exciting elements comes the heat and grime, which can wreak havoc on your skin. Sun exposure isn’t necessarily bad, but, as with all good things, it’s important to keep exposure moderate.
 

You may soon realize though, that your regular skincare routine is just not cutting it. Following these simple suggestions will help you keep the same fresh and healthy look as always.
 

Apply sunscreen religiously. Follow the instructions precisely for maximum results, and always apply sunscreen 20 minutes prior to allow time for the product to absorb into the skin; re-apply every few hours or as needed.

Use a mild facial cleanser. And a scrub to loosen dead skin cells and encourage cell turnover, in effect helping shed damage, while keeping the complexion clean to prevent future breakouts.
 

Moisturize with an SPF. With the onset of warmer weather, a little extra SPF in your moisturizer can go a long way.

Protect your eyes and lips just as avidly. Use appropriate creams and balms to protect these delicate areas of your face – you can substitute your regular cream for a lighter formulation or use it only at night if you find it too heavy for the day.

Don’t skimp on hand and foot cream. Your neck, chest, and hands are just as vulnerable so be sure to apply sunscreen to your chest area, and use a good hand and foot cream to keep them soft and supple.
 

Stay hydrated. Drink water throughout the day, and supplement your diet with fresh fruit where possible.

And finally, get seven to eight hours of sleep a day to keep your skin fresh, inside and out.
